The past week was full of exciting trends that we wanted to highlight
- Salesforce acquired slack: yes it's official now, The CRM giant Salesforce acquired the rising star Slack in a terrific deal of $27.7 Billion
- Docker runtime is deprecated in Kubernetes: But don't panic as docker-built images will continue to run as usual. For more details check this blog.
- Malicious npm packages jdb.js and db-json.js: Malicious npm packages caught installing remote access trojans. JavaScript and Node.js developers who installed the jdb.js and db-json.js packages were infected with the njRAT malware. Another blog covering the same incident.
- AWS loves Rust: While AWS didn't start rust, they are working hard to support its future to ensure stability and consistency. AWS didnβt start Rust or make it the success that it is today, but theyβd like to contribute to its future success.
Releases
- Nodejs 15.3: the most notable change is that we started to see cancel promises in DNS resolver
- NextJS 10.0.3: more robust steps towards a full fledged localization support
- Mongoose 5.11.4: With official typescript support in mongoose, they released 4 times last week to that.
Events
- AWS re:invent started: The cloud giant started its virtual conference from Nov. 30 β Dec. 18 & Jan. 12 β 14.
